City of Artists Exhibition to Open October 12
The City of Jacksonville is pleased to announce that City of Artists, its National Arts Program exhibition, will open with a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12. City Council Vice President Joe Carlucci and Darnell Smith, Mayor Deegan’s Chief of Staff, will deliver brief remarks at the event.
The exhibition, which will be displayed in the Main Library Gallery on the main floor, features 164 visual arts pieces created by 91 City employees and their children and was created to celebrate their talent and creativity.
Employees from the following areas will have artwork included in the exhibit:

- Sports & Entertainment
The original works, which consist of photographs, paintings, sculptures, crafts, works on paper and mixed media, will be on display during regular library hours, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, through Wednesday, November 4. The public is encouraged to come see them.
City of Artists will culminate with an awards ceremony and closing reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m. during November’s ArtWalk. Prior to that, each piece of art will be evaluated by three Jacksonville-based visual artists: Jenny Hager, Erin Kendrick and Tony Smailagic.
The exhibition is being curated by Jacksonville-based visual artist Cheryl McCain, with assistance from Cliff Buckley, Teresa Eichner and Heather Schatz, who are with the City.
