St. Johns River Ferry Commission - Membership

Pursuant to Sec. 93.103, Ordinance Code:

The Commission shall be composed of nine members, two of whom shall be members of the general public appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council, four of whom shall be members of the general public appointed by the City Council, and one of whom shall be a City Council Member appointed each year by the new Council President who shall serve as Chair, the Chief Executive Officer of Visit Jacksonville, or any successor entity chosen by the Tourist Development Council to perform marketing services and to promote tourism in Jacksonville (the "CEO of Visit Jacksonville"), and the Superintendent of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Perserve.  The CEO of Visit Jacksonville and the Superintendent of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Perserve shall be members ex officio.  All members shall have a demonstrated interest in the preservation of service of the Mayport Ferry, and who have such business and/or governmental experience as found by the Council, that will enable them to contribute to the perpetuation of Mayport Ferry service.  Commission members may reside in Duval, Nassau or St. Johns County, and shall serve for three-year staggered terms or until their successors shall have been appointed by the City Council.  Appointments to fill vacancies for partial terms (less than 50% of a full term) shall not be deemed to be full terms.

The Council President shall annually designated the Chair and Vice Chair of the Commission.
