Jacksonville City Council Member Bill Gulliford will be holding a news conference on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 3:15 p.m. in the atrium of City Hall for the purpose of discussing the early successes in the City’s battle with the opioid epidemic through its pilot program “Project Save Lives”. Councilman Gulliford, Dr. Raymond Pomm, Medical Director at Gateway Community Services, and Dr. Huson Gilberstatd, Chief Clinical Officer at St. Vincent’s Health System, will discuss the encouraging early results of the pilot program, its expansion to additional hospital emergency rooms, and the health care cost savings being realized from reductions in the number of overdose cases arriving in emergency rooms and in the avoidance of expensive medical treatments caused by the side-effects of opioid addiction.
