Architects of Change Move Citizens from Indigency to Independence

The Mayor's Community Based Crime Reduction Program and New Town Success Zone addressed unmet needs of the community with another successful Community Impact Day Grocery Giveaway.
The plight of many Northwest Jacksonville disadvantaged citizens comprises of limited access to health care, food insecurity, and financial hardships. A plethora of Community Partners aligned to raise awareness for National Men's Health Month and ongoing food scarcity in New Town. The average household in New Town is one crisis away from a financial disaster. Residents went through a series of emotions as they received timely, critical groceries to feed their families. 25 volunteers distributed 7,325 pounds of donated goods totaling $11,200 to 389 people.
In addition to sustainable food donations citizens received educational resources from Health Care Professionals, Insurance Ambassadors, Social Workers, and Housing Counselors. Interested persons were also able to apply for highly anticipated Mayoral initiatives such as Free Construction Training, FinTech Educational Scholarships and Criminal Record Seal/Expungement. We are forever grateful for our continued support from generous donors like Feeding Northeast Florida and our dedicated Community Partners. Their contributions uplifts the powerless and the voiceless by providing a system of compassionate support.
The Mayor's Community Based Crime Reduction Program continues to make fruitful strides towards removing crime from our streets, decreasing recidivism rates, creating economic mobility, enhancing quality of life, and investing in our neighbors to build a safer Jacksonville.
