April Incidents 2012
The Easter weekend has unfortunately returned hazy skies and smoke-tinged air quality to the First Coast, courtesy of brush fire activity in certain neighboring counties. Individuals suffering from asthma and/or other respiratory ailments should carefully monitor weather conditions and limit outdoor activity and corresponding exposure whenever possible.
Tragedy arrived once again in Jacksonville in the form of a deadly house fire that claimed the life of an adult male on Wednesday, 11 April. Units responded to the single story, single family structure located at 152 Willow Branch Avenue just after 6 AM and were met by flames reaching 10 feet above the roofline of the back porch. In spite of their efforts, with the fire called under control in less than 10 minutes, the responders made a grisly discovery in the area of the fire's origin: the lifeless body of the male occupant. The investigation called into action included representatives from the State Fire Marshal's Office and JSO's homicide team, with the point of origin quickly confirmed as the back porch. The cause could not be immediately established.
