December Incidents 2021

Although the arrival of December typically signifies the start of the joyous, celebratory holiday season, the year 2021 welcomed December with a somber and pensive note for the Jacksonville Fire/Rescue Department. On Wednesday, 8 December, the annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial observation witnessed the tragic addition of three names of heroes now forever enshrined on the Memorial Wall. Captain Thomas Barber, Lieutenant Mario Moya and Engineer Michael Freeland were added to the pervious list of 22 fallen firefighters during the ceremony held at the Memorial site located at Fire Station #1 at 600 North Liberty Street. Their dedication and love for their community, evidenced by their ultimate sacrifice, will now never be forgotten.
